Purpose of the Project: Making a helicopter project using Pinoo Control Card, dc motor and lcd module.

Duration:  2 lessons

Age group:  7 years and older

Pinoo Set:  full set.

Achievements:

  • Learns to code Pinoo control board.

  • Learns to use LCD module.

  • Learns to use DC motor.

  • Develops algorithmic skills.

  • Coding skills develop.

Materials to be used:  Mblock 3 program, pinoo control card, lcd module, dc motor

Materials Needed for Design: Colored cardboard, scissors and a utility knife, forex, glue gun and silicone.

Project Construction:

Let's start with the helicopter design for our project.

We draw one of the sides of the helicopter on the colored cardboard.

We cut out the drawing with scissors.

We draw and cut from the same drawing once again. Thus, we get 2 sides of the helicopter.

We silicon the dc motor on the top of one of the sides.

We siliconize the other side to the dc motor.

We cut strips 2.5 cm thick.

We begin to siliconize the strips we cut so that the tip of the dc motor is exposed.

Using these strips, we cover the exposed bottom and top parts.

Cut 2 strips of 1 cm thickness.

We silicon the two of them from the middle point.

We siliconize this shape on the tip of the dc motor.

We cut 20x10cm, 20x6cm, 10x6cm, 10x6cm pieces from the forex with a utility knife.

With these parts, we make a platform on which the helicopter can stand.

We open a hole on the front of the platform where the screen of the LCD module can enter, with a utility knife.

We silicon the LCD screen into the hole.

We silicone the helicopter on the platform.

We attach the connection cables of the modules to the Pinoo control card. Lcd module 10. We attach the dc motor to the door to the connection point.

We plug the USB connection cable into the Pinoo card and the computer. Now we can start coding.

Adding Pinoo extension:

From the Extensions tab, click "Manage Extensions".

In the window that opens, we write “Pinoo” in the search engine and it is enough to say download to the result.

Installed on our computer.

Connecting the Pinoo control board to the computer:

In Mblock 3, we click on the "Connect" tab in the upper left.

In the window that opens, we click on the "Serial Port" section and select the "COM6" option from the page that opens.

NOTE: As each computer has different port entries, the numbers next to COM may change.

Click on the Cards tab. From the window that opens, we select the "Arduino Nano" card option used by the Pinoo control card.

Click on the Extensions tab.

In the window that opens, we select "Pinoo", the extension of the control card we use.

Click on the Connect tab.

Click "Firmware Update" from the window that opens.

Coding part:

We start with the Pinoo Program code block. Then we prepare the LCD screen.

We add the code block by repeating 10 times from the control menu.

Repeat 10 times by adding the LCD print code block into the code block, and we print the text "TO GO" in the 1st Line 1. Column and the text "Preparing" in the 2nd Line 1. Column. Then we wait for 3 seconds.

Then we clean the LCD screen and start the dc motor. We specify the working time as 8 seconds.

Then, by adding the LCD print code block, we print the text “INISE” in the 1st Line 1. Column and the text “Preparing” in the 2nd Line 1. Column.

Then we start the dc motor and wait for 5 seconds.

After 5 seconds, we clean the LCD screen and stop the dc motor.

Right-click on the “Pinoo Program” command and in the window that opens, “Install to Arduino”  We select the option.

On the page that opens, we click on the "Upload to Arduino" button, which is selected in red. Our codes are uploaded to our Pinoo control card.

After the “Installation Finished” message comes, click the “Close” button.

  Working Status of the Project:

We insert the 9V battery.

First, we will see a message stating that it is preparing for takeoff, and then the dc motor will start and return to the propeller.

The helicopter will stop operating shortly after the message preparing for landing.
